Communication can change the world. In this post, I Kaleigh Quick, share a little bit about a blog called Mamaof3Munchkins, which uses the power of communication to make the world a better place.

Blogs like Mamaof3Munchkins (and crazy4byuidaho) can reach people in ways that previous generations never could have imagined. It is important for people who run blogs to reach out and do what they can to make the world a better, happier, more educated place. It is especially important for moms to change the world!
Here is my opinion on why Mamaof3Munchkins is doing what it takes to make the world better:
As a Food Science student at Brigham Young University –
Idaho, I am eager to learn about food. Not only is food delicious and fun to
learn about, but it is a vital part of life! As human beings, we need food to
survive. However, survival is always better when you are eating good food. That
includes safe food, healthy food, and of course—delicious food. Mama of 3
Munchkins understands the importance of making food tasty and fun.
While I have studied Food Science, I have enjoyed learning
about how to make different foods. In my introductory food science class, I
vividly remember learning about how to de-bone and section a whole, raw
chicken. It was intimidating at first! I was unsure about using sharp culinary
knives, and I didn’t know much about chicken anatomy. However, as my professor
demonstrated, I began to feel more comfortable. In the end, I was very happy
that I had learned how to successfully work my way around an entire chicken! I
was also eager to show off my new skills at home and prepare a nice chicken
dinner for my husband. He loved it, and now my daughter loves homemade chicken
dinners too! After that experience, I have looked forward to learning about new
recipes and how I can make them myself. On Mamaof3Munchkins.com, there are
always amazing new recipes to try. They range from homemade beef jerky to
deliciously sweet strawberry cheesecake. With the variety of recipes that Mama
of 3 Munchkins posts, the options are unlimited. I love being able to expand my
food knowledge by trying the amazing new things that are posted on Mama of 3
Munchkins.
Food Science is also about making food healthy and safe for
the community. In my studies to become a food scientist, I have seen how proper
nutrition affects individuals. For example, in my nutrition course, I learned
about how iron is important for proper brain function. I have strived to
include iron in my diet and in the diets of my family members ever since. The Mama
of 3 Munchkins website has awesome recipes for dishes like: delicious
buttermilk garlic ranch spareribs, and slow cooker turkey meatloaf. It’s
recipes like these that inspire both small families and large food processing
companies to make healthy, yummy foods.
Of course, as a mother, I also appreciate how Mama of 3
Munchkins always includes recipes that involve the little ‘munchkins’ in the
family. With a daughter of my own, I love seeing recipes that she can get
involved in. The more that kids are involved with food, the more of a chance I
have as a parent to teach healthy eating habits. One great example of this was
in a post by Mama of 3 Munchkins called: “Cooking with Kids – Healthy, Simple
Snacks & Meals the Kids Can Help Prepare.” In this post, we learned about
fun ways to incorporate pizza in healthy ways. Pizza kebabs with vegetables was
brilliant! Because my daughter and my husband both love pizza, I was thrilled
to see a way to make a meal that would be extremely enjoyable for my entire
family. Good relationships with food start in the family. Mama of 3 Munchkins is
a website that really nails food and family education!
As a food science student, I have learned about the
importance of creating step-by-step food processing guides. While many of the
aspects of the food science major deal with large-scale manufacturing, it is
still essential that every step of the food preparation process is outlined. How
else would food products be duplicated and produced on a large scale? Because
Mama of 3 Munchkins also includes detailed photos of each recipe step (and other
DIY projects of course!), they really tickle my food science fancy! When every
part of the processes is detailed, others can cleanly replicate the success
they find in the original recipe. A true recipe for success!
As a food science
major, I am interested in making the world a better place with amazing foods.
Throughout my studies at BYU-Idaho, I have learned about creating healthy and
safe foods for the community. I love seeing the posts on Mama of 3 Munchkins
that support my dream. The recipes and do-it-yourself aspects of Mama of 3
Munchkins inspire me to learn new things, try new foods, and to help those
around me. I would love to continue to study Food Science and follow in the
food-making footsteps of Mama of 3 Munchkins.
I believe that I will be able to make a difference in the
world, in my family, and in the food supply...
Much like Mamaof3Munchkins does with her amazing blog! On top of all of this, the Mamaof3Munchkins blog also generously provides students with an educational scholarship. Isn't she amazing?
So, in conclusion, don't hesitate to check out Mamaof3Munchkins! Here is a complimentary link to her blog, which is full of goodies:
